Oh, it’s been three weeks since I’ve been to Bangkok and it is still haunting me. The food was just too delectable to forget, and add the very very low priced apparel there, gosh, who wouldn’t want to go back even for just a day? ( My friends and I even considered booking a one day trip with an empty luggage so that we can come home with them, all full! Hahaha! No, I’m being serious! )
My first unforgettable foodtripping experience at Bangkok was at the foodcourt of Platinum Plaza. Platinum Plaza is the place where you can get clothes at a wholesale price, and you’re very lucky if you have galpals with you on the trip like me, because they give bulk discounts ( up to 50% off ) when you buy three or more. It was impossible to finish checking out the whole mall within a day, and in the middle of checking out the second floor, we declared a halt, and went to the foodcourt for some lunch.

Here’s to the yummiest cheesecake I’ve tried in my entire life. Oh my love! This is nirvana!
Awhile ago, as I was strolling Shangri-la Plaza, checking out books at Powerbooks, and getting ready for dinner, I begged my folks to stop as I made a short detour, the moment I saw the sign, “Secret Recipe” about twenty feet away from where I was standing. I suddenly remembered the absolutely delectable cheesecake that my friend Carlo got me for my birthday, and I told myself that I had to take some with me home tonight ( and that was an ultimatum! ) I considered this a treat for myself as I finished a very tiring , but happy Saturday doing makeup workshops.

After the press launch of Ponds’ Pinkish White Dream Date With Piolo and Dingdong, my friend and I, with our luggages, headed off to the airport to meet our other friends, as we were going to Bangkok for the weekend. I wasn’t really excited about the trip because I was going to miss the Philippine Blog Awards, but hey, my mood changed the moment I landed in Bangkok!
Thailand is just so Asian in its own way. As our taxi makes its way to our hotel at midnight, I am greeted with the view of buildings with pictures of their monarchs on them, and posts made of gold, that it’s almost very Hindu. Well, it was a nice cultural experience for me. Thailand has been the only country in Asia that has resisted foreign domination the longest because of their gems and gold.
Well, as we arrived in our hotel, my friends and I were dead hungry, so we went down, and looked for the nearest 7-11 there is. The roads were very seedy and scary at night, so all we could do was run! Hahaha!
Okay, so here’s what we got from our trip to 7-11 :

…okay, this is such a major backlog, but I swear, the taste is still fresh from my tastebuds!
Right after our dinner at Thai at Silk, my friend was asking us to try this 21-layered crepe because well, it was different and unique in a way that it had 21 layers, so we proceeded to check it out. I can’t quite remember the name of the restaurant, it was very near Thai at Silk, and I quite remember that it was Zao ( a Vietnamese restaurant, please correct me if I am wrong )

It was an absolutely crazy day last Saturday as my bestbud M and I were literally running ( yes, running ) inside the mall, to buy our bestbud J’s gift, and get M’s Westside Story tickets, to be able to make it to J’s birthday dinner, at Thai at Silk, Serendra. After much running, and cram dressing, we made it on time, and boy, our stomachs were complaining pretty bad, good thing the food at Thai at Silk were served pretty fast!
Thai at Silk serves, well, Thai food! It was a pleasant change from our usual Saturday dinners which were mostly steak, pizza, and pasta! To add, I haven’t eaten Thai food for a very long time, so I’m just as glad to be having Thai food for a special Saturday night!

A Veneto’s Seafood Pasta Parmigiana
was a crazy Saturday last week as Brigitte and I did makeup for Ross Capili’s Next Models Photoshoot held at the OWG Studio in Makati. I loved the experience, and usually, when I do makeup, I tend to get carried away ( because I like doing it so much and I thrive in adrenalin during these times ), but my stomach started growling like hell when we were on our way to Glorietta. I’ve been told my alot of my friends that A Veneto Napoli Pizzeria serves very delicious Italian food without hurting the pocket, and as I’ve never tried it, Brigitte and I went there for our very late lunch!

If you chance upon this inside a Chinese deli store, I’m telling you to trust me a little, and please not ignore it. Despite its all Chinese characters which is totally not understandable, just look at the picture. It’s a grape. It’s a grape gummy. Well, not just a grape gummy. It’s the brand of grape gummy that I hoard everytime I go to this Chinese deli store ( Top Value, in Banawe street. I’m sure there are some in Ongpin because I got to buy this in Ongpin years ago. )

On our way home from some shopping, my family members were feeling drained, and of course, very much feeling budget-ty because of the shopping done. ( I used to not feel guilty about this, but hey, age makes me feel like not spending when I’ve spent too much! ) , so we just decided to get some takeout on the road and eat them at home.
My dad stopped by Araneta Avenue ( on the right side, going to Balintawak area ) and decided to get us food from Pixie’s Sinugba. That certain franchise is my dad’s really good friend’s, and that led to my introduction to this mini-resto of some sort. Pixie’s Sinugba is a takeout place that offers mainly Boneless Bangus, and other dishes, as well.

A few weeks ago, I participated with Yehey.com’s and Burger King’s treat to bloggers. To be honest, I haven’t gone to Burger King to eat for the past three years ever since I graduated college - I’ve cut down on fast food since I graduated, that is. I just knew that my baby sisters would love eating here, so I brought my family to the event.
Amongst what we got for dinner, noteworthy mentions were the Steakhouse Burger (Loaded )and the Chicken with Rice.

Hi!
I’m Sophie and I am the blogger behind Yummy Adventures. I don’t claim to be the ultimate expert in food, but what I know is that, I love, love, love food!
Blessed with friends whose pastime includes restaurant hopping, and blessed with a mom and a sister who loves cooking, appreciating good food is included in my favorite things to do. My idea of a perfect meal is 1.) soul-shattering taste that sends shivers to your spine ( I mean it! ) and 2. ) hefty servings, because I really eat alot!
Join me in my journey as I blog about my experience with food, wherever it may take me!
You can contact me at yummyadventures [@] gmail [dot] com. Cheers!
