The Buon Giorno Experience
Reposted from MySummerSolstice

Last weekend was more than anything that I could ask for as I was given a chance to get away from Manila, and spend more time with my bestbuds from college, A and M. With the limited time given to us ( just an overnight stay , these law students are just so darn busy ), I was tasked to plan for our trip.
One thing came into my mind – lunch at Buon Giorno, Cliffhouse, Tagaytay, for starters.
I’ve been enjoying the food at Buon Giorno for some time now as my other friends just love dining there. We always make sure to reserve the Opium Bed beforehand, the most romantic, and best seats in the resto, with a gorgeous view of the Taal Lake. Now, I’ve brought my two friends here with a mission to impress them with the delicious Italian food, and the very enjoyable ambience.

The must-have seats for couples out there, the Opium Bed. ( Barkadas, too, I bet! )
Here’s the food we had on a lazy Saturday lunch,

Started with warm, delicious, house-baked foccaccia bread, dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I like my dip filled with parmesan cheese, too. Tres, tres, yummy.

Started our meal with Buon Giorno’s Special Salad. It’s a mix of fruits and vegetables with the most heavenly, and perfect dressing that I could ever taste. The vinaigrette absolutely became a fast favorite of mine as I intently dipped my lettuce in it. It also helped that all the fruits and veggies there were fresh. Sigh.

Next was pasta. We just LOVE pasta! We tried the Pescatore alla Puttanesca, and it was generous with its seafood in the pasta dish, to the point that more seafood was left than the pasta when we were finishing up. Twas pleasantly sour, just the way I like Italian food. Just because the taste of fresh tomatoes makes me close my eyes with delight. ( I’m that drama with food )

Okay, more pasta, like the Canneloni Spinaci. First, your knife gets to sink in to the thick layer of tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese , as green pasta ( spinach pasta ) is revealed, stuffed with chicken bits and mortadella ham. This dish looks small, but this is one of those dishes that would just surprise you on how filling it would be on your tummy. I love this! I think I’ve always ordered this everytime I go there because I love how mozzarella, tomato sauce, fuses together to make a stuffed pasta just taste so darn exquisite.

Our pizza was none other than the excellent Mare Pesto. This thin crust seafood pesto pizza’s simply one of a kind. Looks like we just love seafood. Cheese, squid, shrimp, seashell, pesto sauce, basil equals more than satisfactory, unique pizza. I regret forgetting to ask for the chili flakes as they are just perfect for this! I settled for tabasco instead, the spicy lover me.

Oh, oh, oh, our most awaited dish! The Prime Rib! Batangas beef is simply divine, don’t you agree? Always tender and fresh. No chewy moments despite the thickness, I love the sauce accompanied with it ( but I somehow tasted some cheesy taste there, which is not a bad thing though ). I just always come back for their steak. Big, tender, juicy, but so reasonably priced. ( I cannot remember if this was 500 or 600 bucks, but it’s pretty big, and already more than worth it for that price tag, I must say ).

We finished off with a delightful dose of dalandan juice. Tall, heavy mug, and would definitely take a while to finish. Dalandan’s got to be our favorite fruit!
Overall, I’m very very very satisfied with our Buon Giorno experience – I’ve managed to impress my friends as they enjoyed the food, and they’ve all started sharing their thoughts on bringing their loved ones there next time . ( A was disappointed though that they don’t allow pets inside the Cliffhouse vicinity ). Our total bill amounted to around 2,000 bucks, which was already very very reasonable, considering it was a major pig out session – we had trouble finishing what we ordered! Service was okay – maybe we were just too far that the waiters could not hear us ( with my numerous waves asking for water – I’m a waiter’s worst nightmare because I ask for water refill in a matter of minutes because of my love for spicy food or just hot sauce Hahahaha! )
To add, I also have one thing to remember Buon Giorno for, and it’s the new name that they baptized me with ( hahaha! ). I’m sure it’s totally unintentional, but for some reason, I’m just so amused with my new name – Susie Ouis, found on the reservations List. I was actually relieved to find that name when we arrived at the resto – or no Opium Bed! ( I pointed to that “new name of mine” and said, “That’s me!!! ” ) Hahahahaha!
Tata!
