Lunch at Ebun, Greenbelt 3
Reposted from MySummerSolstice

I’m admittedly a pig-eater because when I was a kid, I’ve been training like hell in the swimming pool for 4-5 hours a day, that triggered a hefty appetite after. Yes, twice or thrice the usual amount of food kids eat. And I’m afraid I’ve taken it with me as I grew up. I binge eat whenever I’m stressed.
And makeup school is no exception. Don’t get me wrong, I have loads of fun, and my energies are at its all time high whenever I go to class - it’s my passion and I’m happiest whenever it’s Saturday, but it’s also draining since I don’t get me a good breakfast as I rush to school very early in the morning.
So I pigout during lunchtime. Great suggestion of my classmate L, to eat at Ebun, which was right beside Kitchen in Greenbelt 3. Just because we’ve maxed out our CC’s and our cash outflow are just in its all time high because of our expenses for school, we were opting for something more affordable but still equally yummy.
My model C was impatiently munching the fried potato strips (picture shown above ) while waiting for the food, as I joined her because we were both so hungry! To the shock of our classmates, our pig-out selves, C and I, were revealed!
The rice was okay. It was fried rice, and it had onion leeks and some flavor. A bit of flavor, and very Filipino because it’s not sticky like Japanese or Korean rice. The serving, not so big, so we kept on ordering. It was a total of three of these ( in a dish that served around 2-3 ) that us 6 were able to finish. I thought we needed more, actually! Haha!

The mussels dish with tomato soup stock was a delight to my hungry stomach. The mussels were fine, but the soup stock of it was way way better. I actually got a few spoonfuls and mixed it with my rice. Yummy. ( I was actually previously asking for baked tahong and J teased me if I was looking for pulutan in this resto haha ! )

The Binagoongan was really really delicious. I can’t say anything further - it’s like tender adobo meat sauteed in really delicious bagoong. It’s a must-try.

The Kare Kare was just alright. I don’t really know how to judge if a kare-kare dish is good because I’m not really a fan of this dish. But I was able to spoon some sauce to mix with my rice and it was pleasant. Not too peanutty.

What actually made my Saturday lunch was the Beef Kaldereta. It was so rich in flavor, the beef all tender, and it was SPICY! This was the total winner of the bunch and I’d be glad to say that I’m going back to Ebun just to eat this again. Too bad the servings weren’t too big.
Our bill was just around 1,600 pesos ( around $30-$40 ) for six of us and yes, I agree that it was really really affordable. I’m also glad that we didn’t compromise our “budgetting” because the food here was really good. I’d be glad to come back here again and order more, and of course, pig out!
