Yummy Birthday Dinners : Thai at Silk, Serendra

It was an absolutely crazy day last Saturday as my bestbud M and I were literally running ( yes, running ) inside the mall, to buy our bestbud J’s gift, and get M’s Westside Story tickets, to be able to make it to J’s birthday dinner, at Thai at Silk, Serendra. After much running, and cram dressing, we made it on time, and boy, our stomachs were complaining pretty bad, good thing the food at Thai at Silk were served pretty fast!
Thai at Silk serves, well, Thai food! It was a pleasant change from our usual Saturday dinners which were mostly steak, pizza, and pasta! To add, I haven’t eaten Thai food for a very long time, so I’m just as glad to be having Thai food for a special Saturday night!

To start, we had Tom Yum Soup. So far, it has been the most delicious Tom Yum Soup that I’ve ever tasted. It doesn’t even match to what I’ve tried in Singapore, that tasted just like Lucky Me’s Instant Tom Yum Soup ! ( I’m not saying that Lucky Me’s is bad because I actually like it, I’m just saying that for a restaurant -served Tom Yup, it should have been more special given that price! ). It’s really sour, and really spicy at the same time! It has some shredded meat ( was that crabmeat? I could not remember already ) that added to the texture of the soup, and I also loved that it had lots of seafood and mushrooms! It’s the perfect soup for those who are into sour and spicy food like me. This is by far, the best Tom Yum that I’ve ever tried and really fueled my appetite for more! ( J and I loved it so much that she ordered one more of this! )
Next, we tried Paw Pla Thawt ( Deep Fried Spring Rolls ). Very crunchy skin, bean sprouts inside, and the sweet chili sauce was the perfect dipping for it. I’d say it’s pretty good. ( picture above )
After the appetizers, came in the main dishes. My friends who are equally food lovers as I am, were getting excited because our table was getting filled up with platefuls of food, it was overwhelming! Here’s our main dishes :

Poo Nin Pud Pong Karee ( Stir Fried soft shell crab with yellow curry sauce ) is pretty interesting as you can eat the crab’s shell as it is edible enough! It was okay, not too spicy, it was actually tasting pretty …creamy!

Phanaeng Neur Yang (Beef in aromatic phanaeg curry) is a very sauce-y dish. The beef was very soft, so I had no trouble digesting it ( haha! kidding!). I was able to detect coconut milk ( gata ) in this curry dish. To be honest, I’m not a fan of coconut milk (gata) except for ginataan, but the taste of coconut milk in this dish was pretty mild, not overpowering that I was able to tolerate it. My friends voted this dish as one of the best dishes of the night ( yeah, we do this food blogging thing together with them as my input! haha! )

I was actually quite excited about Khao Khluk Kapi (Fried rice with shrimp paste served with sweet pork and green mango juienne ) , locally coined as Bagoong Rice. I love, love Bagoong Rice with all my heart! On its sides were thin strips of boiled egg, lemons, julienned green mango, and sweet pork. I must say that the julienned green mango are just the perfect thing to eat with the Bagoong Rice. The rice itself was not too salty, and it was all balanced - sweet, and salty at the same time. I was in heaven while eating this.

And well, as I’ve started this entry with one of the best dishes of Thai at Silk ( in my opinion ), I’m also saving the best dish for last - and it’s their Pandan Chicken! As you get the chicken out of its grilled, almost burnt pandan leaves, you will get to taste something wonderful, very flavorful, soft, juicy, that you don’t even need the sweet chili sauce paired for this! Absolutely delicious!
Overall, I give Thai at Silk as much thumbs up as I can. I was really satisfied with the service, with how fast they served the food, the hefty and truly filling servings, and how delicious the food is there! And to think that I would ignore it whenever I go to Serendra and just head off to any resto that served steak there. Hahaha!
Thanks J, for the lovely dinner, and the lovely weekend! Happy Birthday to one of my best buds in the whole world!
P.S. Munchpunch is heaven-sent, isn’t it? I get to check out almost every resto’s menu there! Woot!
