My Thai Midnight Snack in..Thailand!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

After the press launch of Ponds’ Pinkish White Dream Date With Piolo and Dingdong, my friend and I, with our luggages, headed off to the airport to meet our other friends, as we were going to Bangkok for the weekend. I wasn’t really excited about the trip because I was going to miss the Philippine Blog Awards, but hey, my mood changed the moment I landed in Bangkok!

Thailand is just so Asian in its own way. As our taxi makes its way to our hotel at midnight, I am greeted with the view of buildings with pictures of their monarchs on them, and posts made of gold, that it’s almost very Hindu. Well, it was a nice cultural experience for me. Thailand has been the only country in Asia that has resisted foreign domination the longest because of their gems and gold.

Well, as we arrived in our hotel, my friends and I were dead hungry, so we went down, and looked for the nearest 7-11 there is. The roads were very seedy and scary at night, so all we could do was run! Hahaha!

Okay, so here’s what we got from our trip to 7-11 :

We bought three ready to cook packs, that were heated in the store’s microwave, and one of them is the Grilled Chicken Terriyaki. It tasted passable, the chicken was very soft, and the marinade was just okay. It’s delicious enough for a ready-to-cook instant meal.

The Seaweed Chicken Roll was actually very delicious. It didn’t taste too crunchy or tender, but the taste was very very good. Saltiness and flavor, just right.

The Grilled Pork With Sticky Rice left my tastebuds confused. The pork had some citrus aroma in my mouth as I started chewing it, and the sticky rice was too raw for my taste. Not really my thing.

Either way, after ten minutes, this is what’s left of the trio…

Hahaha!

And yeah, Nissin’s Instant Tom Yum Cup Noodles, Thailand version ( it’s original version, actually ) is very good and is mega spicy. I wish I bought home alot of these. It’s a spicy food lover’s dream come true to have this in her pantry to have for dinner, maybe every two days, as I have realized, in this trip, that Tom Yum Soup can be toxic to the digestive system if taken in too much ( that was figurative, okay! haha! )
