A Family Holiday Lunch at Buon Giorno, Tagaytay
It’s quite a giveaway in my blog that Buon Giorno’s my favorite restaurant in Tagaytay. I’ve been writing about it over and over again. But why not? It’s got great ambience ( with the opium bed that I always have reserved beforehand, ), great tasting Italian food, great service, and prices are not that bad, as well! I’ve brought friends, and more friends here, and this holiday season, when everything’s just not about work, and we set aside mind cramming for some relaxation, it’s my family that I brought to try the wonderful food at Buon Giorno, in Cliffhouse, Tagaytay.
Call me crazy, but I ordered the usual food that I order in Buon Giorno because for one, my sister who has a very keen taste in food is there with me, and I’d want to make my family try the best dishes there, from my point of view.

The Buon Giorno Special Salad was delightful as we started our lunch with greens. Always a good start!
Afterwards, we had pasta. Three kinds, that is!

My sister C wanted to try their ravioli, which I haven’t tried yet. Spinaci e Funghi Ravioli was spinach pasta with a semi-thin layer of ground mushrooms and spinach, that is. The ravioli was good, but the sauce was much, much better. Probably the best tasting, and most fresh-tasting tomato sauce I’ve ever tried. I like my pasta sauce sour, so this pretty much became a fast favorite of mine. Getting this next time!

Next, was my sister S2’s request, Lasagne al Forno. Together with the ravioli, this was spinach pasta, so the lasagna was green. The meatsauce was loaded with ground meat, alright! My folks thought it was delicious, as I thought it was very, very good. The pasta sauce was not as sour as the ravioli’s, but it had the perfect touch for the lasagna, sweet, and sour at the same time.

The Pescatore alla Puttanesca that we ordered was my favorite, as well as mom’s. Mussels, shrimps, and squids were very much present in this dish, and the tomato sauce was just divine. I love Buon Giorno for their pasta sauces are just seem to be made fresh by them - with mushed tomatoes and all! C called this mediocre, but I call this something that I would eat over and over again. I think I’ve eaten this at least five times already.

The Prime Rib steak that I ordered, I told the waiter, was to be cooked medium well. I was not sure what happened, but when our steak was served, it was a bit chewy, and a bit raw. I asked them to re-cook it again, and the waiter graciously did that for us. It came back a bit toasted, but the beef still very tender ( and I gotta love the burnt edges! ), the gravy was just the right thing for the steak, and I cannot say more about this - for around 500-600 bucks for such a large piece of steak, this is more than worth it as it is very very very very delicious! Yum!

My dad would usually complain that the drinks ordered bloat the total bill, as I usually would agree. But this time, I wanted him to try something really good, as I made him try Buon Giorno’s fresh Green Mango Shake, and Dalandan Shake. My dad and I have something in common, and that is our love for dalandan juice, or shake! I just saw his eyes brighten up as he nodded approvingly, “this is very good!”. Bill bloating, justified. Haha!
To sum up, my family was very happy to have dined in Buon Giorno. My sister C, on our way home, kept on raving about it, on just how good the food was. She told my mom, who wasn’t accustomed to Italian food, that she’d better be accustomed to it since it’s all she’ll cook once she gets in cooking school. Haha!
My sisters S1 and S2 also loved Buon Giorno, and here is their response, captured in photo :

They’re so happy that they just floated in the air! Haha!
