Puttanesca

As I will be based in Singapore for the next couple of months, I’ve been trying to explore the wonderful food here! During my last visit as a tourist, I only got to try a little, and I did not enjoy it too much except for the No Signboard and Pasta Brava experience I had. Now, I have all the time in my hands to explore the food offered by the very cosmopolitan city/country of Singapore!

On my first night, we walked around Toa Payoh, a very nice neighborhood full of buildings, blocks, and houses, and stumbled into a hawker place. A “hawker,” as I learned, is some sort of a foodcourt, that offers affordable priced food, with a wide variety of dishes ( Indian , Italian, Chinese, Malay, etc. ). I’ve been sticking to those ever since I arrived here with the hopes of saving money, but tell you this - they really have delicious food !

First thing I tried was at II El Piccolo Pizzeria, at Toa Payoh. Italian food. Something that I thought I’d miss, but turns out, they have good food there! Yipee!

With the picture above ( my friend’s puttanesca ), the food here definitely looks like comfort food. Huge servings, and definitely tastes like home. No phoney spaghetti sauce taste, very tomato-ish and soul-filling.

Arabiatta

Ham and Mushroom Pizza

And I guess, I never have to worry about missing home with the arabiatta that I had, and the mushroom and ham pizza that we shared.
