Yummy Adventures : Recipes by Metro

Monday, July 25th, 2011

It was an early Sunday affair for me and my siblings as we were quite early at Greenbelt, Makati to grab lunch and watch the last Harry Potter Movie. As my siblings were craving for good food , and moreso, “brunch”, as we haven’t had breakfast, we were most fortunate that there is a Recipes by Metro in Greenbelt, a restaurant that won me over with their General’s Lechon, as it was my lucky day that a good friend was craving for it, and we ended up with two orders of it at their Shangri-la branch. I always love passing forward recommendations, and I was more than happy to let my siblings taste my greatest rave in Filipino food.

For lunch, we had three delicious dishes, and I shall tell you how they fared with my tastebuds:

General’s Chicken just might be Recipes by Metro’s signature, and bestseller dish, big chunks of chicken fried, and sauteed in a very special, sweet sauce. Mixed with soft slices of eggplants, this dish is such a winner in my book. If you’re still wondering how it tastes, its nearest “dupe” might be North Park’s Manchurian Calamares, which I find so delicious, as well. Sweetening a dish up is such a challenge, as you do not want to get tired from its sweetness, but you also need some saltiness to solidify on how it registers to your tastebuds – and for me, this registers as a winner dish!

Christmas Dinner At Sanly Seafood Restaurant

Friday, December 26th, 2008

December 25 marks my favorite day of the year, because not only is it the birth of our Savior, it’s also my favorite cousin’s birthday, and when my motherside relatives get together and eat Christmas dinner together! I love it when I meet my very young cousins ( I’m the oldest, sigh ) as they run around, joke around, and well, the kid in me comes out as I do the same. Hahaha!

We’d eat Chinese food every year, as it’s our default favorite food, coming from our roots, and well, Chinese food is just the best pig-out food ever. For the previous years, we’ve tried various restaurants like Emerald Seafood Restaurant, Malate Tea House, and that Chinese resto in Pan Pacific Hotel ( which I could not quite remember the name of ), and this year, we’re trying out Sanly Seafood Restaurant.

I thought Sanly was quite familiar to my ears ( or my memory ), perhaps one of the food blogs had featured about it already, and my biggest regret for the night was not bringing my DSLR camera ( ok, you’ve got me, I am absolutely a DSLR dependent, I take sucky pictures with P&S sob ), because it was a great place. Situated along Roxas Boulevard, as we entered the restaurant, the ambience was light, and classy. I immediately liked it when I first stepped in, hoping the food would be great as well! Haha!

On to the food we got!
